New Wave of Justice in Chhindwara: Supreme Court Advocate Thakur Nischay Singh Pledges Legal Support to Over 5,500 Affected Families

In a bold and compassionate move, Advocate Thakur Nischay Singh, a new-generation legal luminary practicing at the Supreme Court of India, has taken a historic step toward justice for thousands of marginalized farmers and tribal families affected by the long-pending Pench Thermal Power Project land acquisition dispute in Chhindwara.

Today, a major farmers’ convention was convened in the heart of Chhindwara, where over 100+ farmers from across 31 villages gathered to share their stories of exploitation, broken promises, and systemic neglect. The meeting was initiated and led by Advocate Thakur Nischay Singh himself, accompanied by a dedicated legal team of 10 members, who undertook a comprehensive ground-level assessment of the dispute.

The advocate and his team thoroughly reviewed the pending cases and documentation before the Hon’ble High Court and District Court, only to uncover a grim reality—most of the affected families had been grossly misinformed and misled due to a critical lack of legal awareness. Many had been coerced into surrendering land on false promises of government jobs, residential plots, and rehabilitation—assurances that remain unfulfilled even after decades.

Speaking to the gathering, Advocate Thakur Nischay Singh declared,

“This is not just a legal issue, it is a humanitarian crisis. The voices of 5,500 families have been buried under bureaucratic silence for too long. Today, I commit to standing with them—not for fees, but for justice.”

In a dramatic turning point, he announced the initiation of fresh proceedings before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, aiming to consolidate the grievances of all 5,500 affected families and present the case as a collective plea for justice under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. He emphasized the unlawful breach of statutory provisions which mandate rehabilitation, compensation, and employment assurance for every displaced family.

This fresh initiative has breathed new life into a cause that has long been shackled by silence. Farmers attending the meeting expressed overwhelming gratitude, many in tears, stating that it was the first time a lawyer had come forward selflessly, offering to work pro bono for their rights.
